About Acrylic

Acrylic is an extremely versatile substrate with a glossy finish. It is the perfect product for achieving a sophisticated high-tech look. Acrylic is a plastic product that can be heated to conform to many different shapes. Its versatility allows you to design boxes,holders for brochures or a sign and easel all in one. Acrylic-What is it?

Acrylic is also known by the brand Plexiglas®. It is an excellent product when you want a high-quality finish. A three dimensional effect(giving the perception of depth to the finished product)can be achieved by using clear acrylic and applying the background color to the reverse side.

Acrylic is best suited for long-term indoor or short-term outdoor use where protected by an overhang or awning (this does not include when acrylic is used in light box signs).

Sizes 

Acrylic is available a variety of lengths, widths and thicknesses and is typically stocked in 4′ x 8′ sheets.

Thicknesses 

The most commonly used and/or stocked size is 1/8″ thick, but acrylic is available in other sizes.

Aluminum – What is it? 

Aluminum is a metal substrate that is recyclable, lightweight, and sturdy. It is resistant to weather and rust. Although it is lightweight, aluminum is one of the most rugged sign materials available.

Aluminum is available in a variety of lengths, widths and thicknesses, and comes in sheets up to 4′ x 8′.

The stocked thickness for Aluminum is commonly .063

When installing your aluminum sign, take precautionary measures. While the baked enamel finish is extremely resilient to weather, it is brittle and scratches easily.

About Corrugated Plastic

  • Industrial
  • Indoor point-of-sale
  • Temporary signage
  • Low-cost signage

Corrugated Plastic – What is it? 

Corrugated plastic, also known by the brand name Coroplast®, is an extremely versatile, extruded twin-wall plastic sheet. It is durable and can be cut to create collapsible signage. Corrugated Plastic is an excellent substitute for poster board or card stock for interior applications. Its surface is not affected by most oils, solvents or water, and cleans easily.

Corrugated plastic is aligned with flutes that generally run horizontally across the width of the sign. There is a slight detection of lines when looking at the material.

Corrugated plastic is available in a variety of lengths, widths and thicknesses, and comes in sheets of up to 48″ x 96″

Thicknesses 

The stocked thickness of corrugated plastic is 3mm.

About Foam Core Products 

Foam core board is made by adhering two sheets of paper to both sides of a foam core. Foam core board is lightweight yet sturdy and it is ideal for all indoor mounting applications. Easy to cut and customize, foam board is clay-coated for an extra smooth surface. Foam board comes in a variety of colors and is well suited to trade show applications and many other indoor uses. Foam board accepts ink jet and full color printing very well. Standard foam core board is an economical product for temporary and short-term use.

About Magnetics 

Customers who do not want letters or signage permanently affixed to their vehicle or other iron or steel surfaces have the option of magnetic signage. Magnetic material is a useful advertising tool in creating business awareness. Typical applications include the following signage:

  • Service trucks

  • Menu boards
  • Building directories
  • Novelty magnets

Magnetic – What is it? 

Magnetic sheeting measuring .030″ thick is a material used for signs that can enhance any vehicle or steel surface without being permanently affixed to the desired surface. To attach your magnetic to non-magnetic surfaces, steel tape may be used. Vinyl lettering or graphics can be applied to magnetics to create an attractive design to meet your business needs.

When properly cared for, magnetic material has an outdoor life of approximately one year.

Sizes 

AMagnetic material is available in several lengths and is easily cut into shapes, allowing for custom application. Maximum size is 24″ x 50′. The thickness is .030 gauge.

Colors 

To keep cost down, magnetic material is generally stocked in white only. However, you can create a variety of colored backgrounds by overlaying vinyl onto the surface of the magnetic.

Installation and Care 

Here are a few points to keep in mind:

A magnetic sign should not be applied to a newly painted vehicle. Allow at least 60 days for fresh paint to cure. A trained staff member will assist you in determining the proper size for your magnetic sign.

Always make sure that the surface where the magnetic is to be applied is thoroughly cleaned. If small particles are left in the designated area of application it may cause the magnetic not to stick and therefore your magnetic may be lost.

When storing your magnetics do not roll up or fold. Simply place your magnetic on the refrigerator or a filing cabinet (note: do not put on/near a computer)

Polystyrene is a lightweight product used primarily for indoor or temporary outdoor signage. This durable material is ideal for the customer seeking cost effective signage. Typical applications include the following signage:

Polystyrene – What is it?

Polystyrene is very similar to foam PVC and coroplast. Polystyrene’s flexibility makes it ideal for curved surfaces and it is best used indoors.

Polystyrene is available in various lengths, widths and thicknesses, and comes in sheets of up to 4′ x 8′.

Thicknesses 

The most commonly used thicknesses for polystyrene is generally .020, .030 and .060 gauges. (approximately 1/64″, 1/32″, and 1/16″) Thinner gauges are more translucent and therefore are not recommended for double-sided signage.

About Expanded PVC 

Expanded PVC is also known as Foam PVC. It projects a high-quality and professional image for your business or event. Typical applications include the following:

  • Point of sale displays
  • Menu boards
  • Directional and informational signage
  • Name plates and name tags
  • Trade show signage

Expanded PVC – What is it? 

Medium-weight and durable, expanded PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is easily installed and transported. Its matte finish hides fingerprints and is easily cut into shapes, allowing for custom applications.

This product is best suited for long-term or short term indoor / outdoor applications. When used outdoors, it must be sheltered and used in low-humidity areas, as some brands may absorb moisture and mildew when left in exposed locations. Without proper handling, it can be scratched.

Some common brand names for expanded PVC are Trovicel® and Sintra®.
